Responsible Choices at Mahéquline

At Mahéquline, we strive to make more responsible choices in our production and shipping processes. As a small business we are gradually implementing solutions to reduce our environmental impact – without compromising the quality of our products.

Reusable Canvas Bags for Shipping

Our shipments come in practical canvas bags with zippers which can be used over and over again. This means that when you receive your items you also get a bag you can use for storage – for example as a makeup bag or for packing underwear on your travels. It's a simple way to reduce single-use plastic and encourage reuse.

Mahéquline's Current Fiber Usage

Mahéquline takes a sustainable approach to production by exclusively using deadstock fabrics sourced from supplier surplus. This means the company reuses materials that would otherwise go to waste, reducing their environmental impact.

The company’s fiber usage consists of the following materials:

  • 7% spandex, providing elasticity and comfort to their garments.
  • 16% nylon, which adds strength and durability.
  • 14% organic cotton, an eco-friendly choice that ensures a natural and breathable fabric while minimizing environmental footprint.
  • 63% polyester, contributing to durability, wrinkle resistance, and faster drying times.

By focusing on deadstock fabrics, Mahéquline helps reduce waste and makes responsible use of existing resources, supporting their commitment to a more circular fashion industry.

Care guide

Hand wash is recommended

While many lingerie pieces can be machine washed, we always recommend hand washing, especially for delicate fabrics like lace, silk, and satin. Fill a basin with lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild soap or detergent made for delicate fabrics. Let your lingerie soak for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and gently press out excess water (avoid wringing the fabric).

Use machine wash with caution

If you choose to machine wash, always place your lingerie in a mesh laundry bag to protect it from being stretched or damaged. Use a gentle cycle with cold water and mild detergent. Avoid washing with heavier fabrics like jeans or towels, as they can cause wear and tear on the delicate material.

Avoid the dryer

Never tumble dry your lingerie, as heat can damage the elastic and fabric. Instead, gently press out the water and lay your lingerie flat to air dry on a drying rack or a towel. Avoid hanging it by the straps, as this can cause them to stretch over time.

Proper storage

Store your lingerie carefully to avoid unnecessary wear. Fold bras so the cups retain their shape and avoid turning them inside out. Lay them flat or store them in a dedicated lingerie drawer to keep them in their best condition.

Avoid harsh chemicals

Avoid using bleach or harsh chemicals, as these can damage delicate fabrics and discolor your lingerie. If you need to remove stains, opt for a mild detergent or a gentle stain remover instead.

Travel-friendly lingerie care

Use your Mahéquline canvas bag to protect your lingerie when you're on the go. It keeps your pieces organized and ensures they won't get wrinkled or damaged in your suitcase.

By following these simple steps, you can enjoy your lingerie longer while keeping it looking and feeling great. At Mahéquline, we're proud of the quality of our products, and we want to help you take the best possible care of them.
