The Process Behind Our Designs
The process behind our designs
At Mahéquline, our design process is a journey of emotion, craft and sustainability. Discover how swimwear is made - six intentional steps that transform a flash of inspiration into your next wardrobe favourite.
## 1. Concept Development
In this phase, founder Caroline curates every colour, texture and memory: from the hand-painted tiles of Positano to childhood snapshots of gingham picnics. “I fell in love with the Amalfi Coast’s deep blues and sun-ripened oranges,” she says. “Those hues became the heart of our ‘Amore al Mare’ palette.”
## 2. Sketching & Design Drafting
With mood in mind, we translate ideas into precise sketches. Every curve, ruffle and seam is hand-drawn - capturing the flow of fabric and the strength of support, always with feminine ease at the forefront.
## 3. Design Construction
This is the blueprint stage: each piece is drafted into patterns that marry art with engineering. Grainlines and notches ensure consistency, while structural details guarantee fit, flow and longevity.
## 4. Material Selection
We hand-pick every trim and textile from ethical deadstock if possible. Each piece its unique whisper of nostalgia and romance - Learn more.
## 5. Sampling
Here, aesthetic swimwear comes to life in 3D. We fit on dress forms and live models, iterating every seam and strap. Sampling typically takes 10–14 days, ensuring precise fit and fluid movement before final approval.
## 6. Bringing to Life
The final garments are cut in small batches, sewn by skilled artisans, and hand-finished for that “just-right” feel. Each stitch celebrates the journey - from the first sketch to your closet.
